Wheat Beyond the Field

Covering 15,000 acres across the most productive soil in Montana, Wheat Montana began as a family-owned and operated business and now has over 180 employees.

“The company has changed a lot, and food service distribution for the bread is now throughout the entire western United States. The mill and flour sales are national, and our product offerings have been greatly expanded. The family sold Wheat Montana in 2015, and although it’s now corporate-owned, the business is pretty much functioning and expanding as it had been before,” Communications Manager Amy Danielson said.

Everything is done in-house including growing the grain and milling it down the road, grain cleaning, processing, and flour milling.

“The bakery at Wheat Montana runs production five days a week with two to three shifts per day. They produce bread and buns for fresh delivery to local grocery stores, and frozen bread and buns for food service distribution. The flour mill at Wheat Montana also runs five days a week with one to two shifts. They clean the wheat and grind whole wheat flour as well as package cereals, seeds and pancake mixes,” Amy said.

Inside the deli you can find goods to purchase ranging from multiple types of bread to T-shirts. If you find your stomach growling while you’re checking out the shop, you’re in luck. The bakery and deli offer a variety of salads, sandwiches and soups.

And it doesn’t stop there. Wheat Montana sells to stores across the country.

“Wheat Montana offers its bread products at all grocery stores across Montana and Wyoming.  Our flour, seeds, cereals and pancake mixes can be found in Walmart, Albertsons, Safeway, Kroger, Sprouts, TJ Maxx, Marshalls and many other stores across the United States,” said Amy.

And just when you thought they couldn’t do more, they also run a blog which covers a wide range of topics including snack recipes, Montana trip tips, and advice columns to improve the way you eat and shop.
