Granite is a hard red spring wheat bred for high protein and high input production systems. Granite produces a hard main stem and two strong tillers. The three stems that it produces are very sturdy and have heads that are uniform, highly fertile, and densely packed with seed. Granite is rated moderately susceptible to leaf rust and scab, moderately resistant to foliar disease and resistant to stem rust. Granite is a free threshing variety with good shatter resistance.
